Monster Brew DM
In my spare time I often enjoy making maps and adventures for Dungeons & Dragons, some of these I have self published under the brand name Monster Brew DM using the Open Game Licence from WotC.
I create a variety of maps using a selection of different map making software such as Dungeon Draft, Dungeon Painter, and I often draw my maps using paper prototypes before I re-create them digitally. I also make use of Affinity Photo and Photoshop in editing my maps and in some cases create 2DFP drafts before I make use of any map making software.
I enjoy creating a variety of stand-alone adventures that can be slotted into an ongoing adventure, or stitched together to make a completely custom adventure. The locations are often bespoke areas created for the adventure but can be easily linked into an existing world and can also be used to create a completely unique world to adventure within.
I often employ the techniques of TTRPG worldbuilding when it comes to my work in game design as I believe the flexibility that’s offered in the creation of TTRPGs are a great way to learn a variety of transferable skills such as:
World Building
Level Design
Game Pacing
Narrative Design
Mechanic Design
