Honours Project - Level Design, Scripting, UI, Asset Creation, Mechanics, QA

A short play-through of my finished Honours Project The project was created as part of a collaborative Honours Project between myself and Christina Logan I used the Unreal Engine 4 for the development of the game level and mechanics. I made use of Photoshop, and Maya in the creation of assets such as the thought bubbles, and the Park Background Screen.

The player character is in a wheelchair, which created a unique challenge when designing the level and the overall mechanics of the game.

During my Fourth (4th) Year of University I created the above level as a representation of how Level Design can aid in the creation of diverse and engaging character experiences. My part in the project was the following:

  • Level Design - creation and placement of objects in the level, creating the level flow, and lighting placement.
  • Creating and implementing the Game Mechanics for the player character
  • Audio sourcing and placement for the overall ambiance of the level
  • Creation of Menu Assets and the scripting of these menus
  • Overall scripting of the game was also my given task within the Unreal Engine
  • Testing of the game was also a key task I took on in order to create a stable and playable prototype
