Saccharine Games

During our Third (3rd) Year of University, we were given a brief by a professional group or body acting as clients who wished for a game to be made in line with a project they were creating.

This involved taking teams of around 6 to 8 students from varying disciplines and having them work together to create a game in line with the given brief for the clients.

Our team Saccharine Games was involved with creating a game that was a fun, educational piece of interactive learning that taught the history of Scotland's involvement with the Sugar Trade.

Design

On the Project I took on a number of roles as the project progressed. Most notably are:

  • Lead Level Designer
  • Writer (Character and Story)
  • Researcher
  • 3D Assets (Misc. Small Objects)
  • Additional Game Sounds

Story

Sugaropilis tells the story of Scotland's involvement with the Sugar Trade from the perspective of two family members who ran a Sugar Cane importing business in Greenock, West Dunbartonshire.

Gameplay Details

Sugaropolis is a walking sim at it's heart, however it is an attempt at making learning fun by adding an interactive element to education. The game can be implemented in schools, or in museums easily.
